Roasted green beans are my favorite but I wanted to doctor up some canned green beans and these are perfect. Flavored with bacon and onion these are a copycat of Cracker Barrel’s country style green beans and they’re so easy to make.

Have you been to Cracker Barrel? I haven’t been in a long time but it is a tradition to go on just about any road trip I’ve ever been on. A short trip to Cedar Point? Stop at Cracker Barrel. One of the many road trips I took to Alabama and Georgia when I was young? Stop at Cracker Barrel. Going up north with friends? Stop at Cracker Barrel.

If you haven’t been, let me fill you in a bit. Not only is it a delicious restaurant, but the front is also a general store. They sell everything from cute holiday decorations to toys and candy. Like I said, we always stop on our way somewhere so it’s a great place to stretch your legs, browse around the shop, then get something to eat.

The food is real. The syrup is 100% pure, natural syrup. Growing up, I didn’t even like their syrup because I was so used to the fake stuff. Luckily, now I can appreciate real ingredients.

I usually order breakfast when I go to Cracker Barrel, but that’s not all they serve.

These green beans are also on their menu and are so good. You start with canned green beans but the bacon and onion give them so much flavor. They’re a perfect side dish for any dinner and they make a lot so they’d be great for a family gathering. While you’re at it, make this copycat cracker barrel coleslaw, too.

I’m excited to take Julia for her first Cracker Barrel visit. They have one about 25 minutes from our house so we might have to break my “only on the way out of town” tradition and make a special trip.
