Halloween Monster Munch Popcorn Mix is a super easy party treat made with popcorn, pretzels, and Halloween candy that is drizzled with colorful vanilla candy melts. It’s a perfect blend of salty, sweet, and delicious for a fun Halloween snack.

Halloween Party Mix
I love a good Halloween party, especially one with Halloween desserts, and this Monster Munch Popcorn Mix is a great addition to the snack table along with Red Velvet “Raw Meat” Rice Krispie Treats, Halloween Poke Cake, and Halloween Swirl Cream Cheese Brownies.
It takes just minutes to prepare, serves a crowd, and is so versatile. Full of salty and sweet flavors, you can use your favorite mix-ins to customize it.
This Halloween mix includes popcorn, pretzels, and Halloween candy, drizzled with colorful white chocolate that holds everything together.
Set a bowl out to snack on before trick-or-treating or you could bag it up into treat bags for trick-or-treaters or your family on the go.
It would be perfect with some Halloween fudge while playing Halloween Bingo!

Tools you’ll need
- Large mixing bowl – for mixing your popcorn and treats together
- Sheet pan – use a baking sheet with a lip to spread out your mix for easy drizzling.
- Mini spatulas – I love these for mixing the colors into the candy melts.
- Food coloring – My favorite Wilton food color system isn’t on Prime anymore but this one looks really similar.
Ingredients
The beauty of this popcorn mix is that you easily can switch it up to suit your taste buds. I like to have a nice balance of salty and sweet but it is easily tweaked.
Below are the ingredients I used, helpful tips, and possible substitutions. Scroll all the way down for the full recipe card with measurements and directions.
- Popcorn – Microwave popcorn, store bought bag of popcorn (like Skinny Pop or Boom Chicka Pop), or make your own on the stove, like my coconut oil popcorn. I would stay away from heavily buttered or flavored microwave popcorn because I don’t think it works well here, but do what you like.
- Candy Corn – People have strong feelings about candy corn but I think it looks cute in the mix. I used minis.
- M&Ms – I used plain Halloween colored M&Ms (“Ghouls Mix”) but there are so many varieties – peanut, peanut butter, “Cookies and Screeem”, “Creepy Cocoa Crisp”, etc.
- Pretzels – I like to use pretzel sticks and break them up a bit so they’re not too large.
- Vanilla Melting Wafers – I used Ghirardelli vanilla flavored melting wafers but almond bark will work as well.
- Candy Eyeballs – I’ll be honest, these don’t taste great lol but they are a fun addition.
- Halloween Sprinkles – I mixed together a couple Halloween themed sprinkles I had in the cupboard.
- Food Coloring – Optional, but it is fun to color some of the vanilla candy to drizzle over the top. I used my Wilton Color Right system but this looks very similar.
Other possible additions include: Reese’s Pieces, Corn or Rice Chex, Dry Roasted Peanuts, Candy Worms…use your imagination!

How to make Halloween Monster Munch Popcorn Mix
- STEP ONE: First, pour your popcorn and all your mix-ins into a large bowl and stir to distribute. Then, pour the mixture onto a lipped baking sheet.
- STEP TWO: Next, melt the candy melts in the microwave and divide into 4 bowls to dye orange, green, purple, and leave one white. Drizzle the colored candy melts over the mix, then add the sprinkles and eyeballs. Let it set for approximately 30 minutes. You can pop it into the fridge to speed it up, if needed.
- STEP THREE: Finally, break up the popcorn and serve!

How to store it
Store your monster munch in an airtight container (I like to use freezer bags) and it will last up to a couple weeks, making it an easy one to prep ahead of time.
What mix-ins should I use?
I used mini candy corn, Halloween themed M&Ms, broken pretzel sticks, candy eyeballs, and Halloween sprinkles. If peanut allergies aren’t a concern, dry roasted peanuts or Reese’s Pieces would be good additions. Dry cereals are also fun to add (cheerios, rice/corn chex, etc.).
What are vanilla melting wafers?
Many refer to white vanilla melting wafers are white chocolate, but they aren’t. They’re a blend of sugar, oils, milk, and vanilla. They melt really smoothly and are easy to work with. I like Ghirardelli brand but vanilla candiquik or almond bark works as well.

How many does it serve
As written, I say it serves at least 10 generously. You can easily double it or switch up the ratios – I showed you what I did, but it’s easily adjustable. Hate candy corn? Don’t use it. Want extra pretzels? Double them up. Easy.
Which dye should I use to match the colors shown?
I carefully melted the vanilla wafers in a heat safe bowl in the microwave in 30 second intervals until smooth. I then divided the melted candy into four bowls to dye fun Halloween colors (approximately 1/2 cup per bowl).
For the purple, I used 2 drops of pink and one drop of blue.
For the green, I used 4 drops of yellow and 1 drop of blue.
For the orange, I used 4 drops of orange.
Then I left one bowl white.
What should I serve Monster Munch out of?
I picked up a plastic cauldron from Target’s dollar spot as well as the cute metal buckets to serve the popcorn mix from. You could also bag it up in Halloween treat bags for snacks on the go or to pass out.
