I’m writing this post today as part of the third annual Cookies For Kids’ Cancer Valentine’s event.

This is a cause that I love bringing awareness to and have done some posts for in the past.

Let me tell you about these simple cookie cups, then I’ll tell you all about Cookies for Kids’ Cancer and the good they do.

You can make these cookie cups SUPER easy and semi-homemade OR you can step it up and make them from scratch. I’m taking the semi-homemade route today.

  • Sugar Cookie Dough – Use your favorite “break & bake” variety or make them from scratch. I like this Chewy Sugar Cookie base or try these Brown Sugar Cookies if you’re going the scratch route.
  • Vanilla Frosting – I used a pink Funfetti frosting but you can use a can of vanilla frosting and dye it pink, or make Buttercream Frosting and dye it pink.
  • SPRINKLES – I used mini heart sprinkles.

If you take the semi-homemade route, these cookie cups will be done & out the door in under an hour.

  1. STEP ONE: First, lightly spray a 24-well mini muffin pan with non-stick spray. Add in one cube of ready-to-bake sugar cookie dough to each well. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until just golden.
  2. STEP TWO: Then, once they’ve cooled, pipe in pink vanilla frosting and top with sprinkles!

Equipment to help you

  • Mini Muffin Pans – This muffin pan will make 24 cookies at a time. Fast!
  • Food Coloring – If you’re dying your frosting, it’s nice to have a food coloring kit to customize the color.
  • Piping Bags – To pipe the frosting into the cups. You can also just use a large freezer bag.
  • Piping Tip – I used a Wilton 1M open star piping tip for these cookie cups.
  • Sprinkles – I used pink Valentine themed sprinkles.

Ok, so now why we’re really here today.

Cancer is the #1 cause of death of children by disease in the U.S. and there are currently 40,000 U.S. children actively battling cancer. With less than 4% of the National Cancer Institute’s budget going to all childhood cancer combined, I feel like we can do more to help.

Help us make a difference by donating to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. Many thanks to three of my favorite companies: Dixie Crystals, Mediavine and OXO, who have matched our donations (up to $3,000)!

Thanks to many of you, we have past our initial $3,000 goal, but you can still donate and help us make an even bigger difference! >> DONATE HERE.
