PERSNICKETY PLATES

To a bowl, add warm water. Sprinkle in the yeast and stir.

Add in the salt and sugar and stir. One cup at a time, slowly add the flour, mixing. Add more flour until the dough is not longer sticky.

Flour a flat surface and turn the dough out onto it. Knead the dough and shape into a ball. Cut the dough ball into ⅓ cup sections.

Take a dough ball and use the palms of your hands to roll it into a rope with an even diameter.

Take the ends and draw them together. Twist the ends, then bring them towards yourself and press them down.

In a bowl, beat the egg. Dunk the pretzel into the egg wash and then place on the baking sheet and sprinkle with salt.

Bake for 10 mins.  Turn the oven to broil for the last 5 mins to brown the tops of the pretzels.
