Slow cooker birria ramen is a dump-and-set recipe which means a handful of ingredients get thrown in the crockpot to cook low and slow until the meat is tender. Then we introduce our Mexican flavors to our Japanese ramen noodles and serve it with a soft-boiled egg, cilantro, onion, and lime juice on top. If you like to spice things up a bit, add some jalapeno to yours!

My slow cooker beef ramen has been made thousands and thousands of times since I first shared it so I wanted to offer another twist. This slow cooker birria ramen recipe provides all of that yumminess of classic beef birria and combines it with the elements of traditional ramen!
The consumme made from slow cooking birria beef has got to be one of the most flavorful broths I’ve ever had. Traditionally it’s made wtih a variety of dried chiles for depth of flavor, onions and spices that simmer as the meat (either lamb or beef) cooks.
However, the secret to making a dish easier for busy families is taking shortcuts when necessary. So, instead of using specialty ingredients for the broth, we’re using a birria seasoning packet instead!
A piping hot bowl of these beautiful rich Asian and Mexican flavors is the ultimate in comfort food and will become one of your favorite fusions!

Ingredients
Below is a list of the ingredients youāll need to gather to make this recipe, why you need them, and possible substitutions. Scroll all the way down for the full recipe card with measurements.
Jump- Stew beef: This beef already comes cubed and is easy to just toss in. Alternatively, you can cube your own chuck or round roast.
- White onion and garlic: Diced onion and minced garlic add aromatic flavors and are a key component in making birria.
- Birria seasoning: Just one packet replaces the chili peppers and spices. They should be easy to find in your market’s spice aisle, or you can order it.
- Water or beef stock: If using beef stock for extra flavor, you’ll want to use low sodium because the seasoning packet will contain salt.
- Ramen noodles: Whole foods and Costco (and most big box grocery stores) sell ramen noodles. If you can’t find them, you can use the packages that come with seasoning, just discard those packets.
- Optional toppings: Soft boiled egg, cilantro, sliced green onion, lime, jalapeno.

Every slow cooker runs differently. Times given are a general recommendation and should be tested in your own slow cooker and adjusted as needed.
- If using the Maruchan brand of ramen noodles, you’ll need 3 but discard the seasoning packages.
- For extra heat, add a squirt of sriracha sauce.
- Have extra lime wedges and various toppings for people to choose their own.
- To make a soft-boiled egg, place an egg or two in a pot. Cover with water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, remove the pot from heat, cover with a lid and let it sit for 9 minutes. Drain, peel, and voila.
- Check out my slow cooker chicken ramen recipe for how to cook the egg right in the slow cooker!
- Serve with chopsticks (or a fork) for the noodles and a spoon for the broth.
