Fuzzy Navel Drink

A fuzzy navel is easy, sweet, and screams summer.

Made with a blend of peach schnapps and orange juice, this drink is sure to give you all those good summertime vibes – you don’t even need a shaker which makes it perfect for backyard entertaining.

My mom, who actually doesn’t drink at all, will tell you that a Fuzzy Navel is her favorite drink. Because they are so mild, they are perfect to serve at a brunch, just like a mimosa, tequila sunrise mimosa, or my cranberry prosecco spritzer.

Straight out of the 80s (just like me), if you haven’t tried one yet, you need to!

This is an easy one – are you ready??

Why is it called a fuzzy navel?

The name Fuzzy Navel comes from the fact that a peach is “fuzzy” (can you picture the tiny hairs?) and navel is referencing a navel orange. That’s it. Kinda gross name; very delicious drink.

When was the fuzzy navel invented?

The fuzzy navel came about in the 1980s by a bartender named Ray Foley. Thanks, Ray!

How much alcohol is in peach schnapps?

Peach Schnapps became popular in America in the 1980s. DeKuyper Peachtree Schnapps, which is a popular version, has 15% ALC/VOL (30 proof).

Fuzzy Navel Variations 🍑

Like I said, it is optional, but I sometimes add a shot of vodka which will turn a Fuzzy Navel into a Hairy Navel.

Add grenadine and it will turn into a Pierced Fuzzy Navel.

Or you can try a fuzzy navel jello shot!

To make a pitcher, multiply the recipe by however many you’d like to serve and add it to a pitcher. For example, to make a batch to serve 6, you’d need 18 ounces of peach schnapps and 18 ounces of orange juice. Make sure you plan for a large enough pitcher!

  1. Hi Melissa,
I am so sorry to hear about Ray, that is so tragic to go thru, I remember with Sam, my golden retriever had to be put down with lung cancer, like you he was my baby, just be comforted with the thirteen years of love and devotion you two had for each other.
