Oven baked green beans are a simple and healthy side dish I can never stop eating! With only five ingredients and just 10 minutes of prep time, this side dish is easy as it is versatile. It pairs well with just about anything!

If you’ve never thought of vegetables as addicting, it’s because you’ve never had my oven roasted green beans. They’re crispy and tender, garlicky and juicy, and have that extra bit of freshness from the lemon juice. I tell you, put a bowl of them in front of me and I’m popping them like candy!
Baked green beans are a super simple and healthy side dish made with just 5 ingredients and they pair with just about anything.

- Lipped Baking Pan – It’s helpful to have the lip so you don’t lose any green beans off the side of the pan.
- Tongs – It’s really easy to toss the green beans with tongs, & it’s especially helpful when they’re hot.
- Minced Garlic – I always keep minced garlic in oil in the fridge because I never remember to buy fresh garlic & it keeps a long time.
- Mixing Bowls – To toss your green beans and let them marinate.

- Green Beans – Fresh green beans, with the ends trimmed off. Kitchen shears work great for this. I also snap the larger ones in half.
- Olive Oil – Extra virgin olive oil. A drizzle overtop the beans will help them caramelize and crisp up nicely on the outside.
- Salt & Pepper – The basics. I like to use sea salt & freshly ground black pepper. So simple yet so good.
- Lemon Juice – The juice of a fresh lemon. The bottled stuff just isn’t the same.
- Garlic – I use the minced garlic that is packed in olive oil because I always have that on hand. Fresh garlic will work too, of course.
How to make Baked Green Beans

- Step One: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and place a foil-lined baking sheet into the oven to get it hot.
- Step Two: Place the green beans, olive oil, and seasoning in a large bowl. Toss to coat, making sure all the beans are nicely covered. Let the beans marinate for 20 minutes.
- Step Three: Carefully remove the hot tray from the oven and use tongs to transfer the beans from the bowl to the pan. Hear that sizzle! Spread them out in a single layer.
- Step Four: Bake for 8-12 minutes until crisp-tender.
What to serve with Oven Roasted Green Beans
This vibrant zesty roasted green beans recipe does well with anything creamy, sweet, and starchy.
Pair them with other sides like Roasted Carrots and Roasted Red Potatoes or slow cooker cheesy potatoes alongside crockpot brisket with BBQ sauce.
They’d be great with slow cooker Mississippi chicken, garlic butter baked chicken, and of course a whole seasoned chicken as well.
Tips & Suggestions
- Spread the beans apart enough so that there is room for the heat to circulate. This is how they crisp up. Otherwise, if they’re too close, the heat will transfer making them soggy.
- I use foil to line my baking sheet for easy cleanup and to ensure they don’t stick, however you don’t have to. You can make these without the aluminum foil, which may help with added crispness.
- If you don’t have fresh garlic, feel free to use garlic powder instead.
- Sprinkle a little parmesan cheese on top for a twist.
- Slivered almonds or pine nuts are always a nice addition to green beans. Adds a bit of crunch.
- Toss in some red pepper flakes for heat.
- For extra lemon flavor, use lemon zest as well as the juice.

How long will oven roasted beans last in the fridge?
They will stay fresh for up to 3 days in the fridge. They will get soggy the longer they sit, but they’ll still taste great.
Can I freeze them?
You can. Although, I recommend freezing them just after they cool. So, within an hour or so. Otherwise, if you freeze them later on, they’ll be soggy. This means they’ll be soggy once thawed too.
How to reheat baked green beans?
You can reheat these baked green beans in a skillet on the stovetop, in the oven, the air fryer, or the microwave. If they’re frozen, thaw them first in the fridge.
