I was in charge of Granny's birthday cake this year & decided to try this one. It was really moist & everyone asked for the recipe. I'll definitely make it again.

- 1 1/2 cups softened butter
- 3 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 5 eggs
- 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 3/4 cup 7-Up
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Cream butter with an electric mixer.
Add sugar & vanilla; beat until light & fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir in flour & cocoa, blending thoroughly.
Stir in 7-Up.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Spoon into a well greased 10" tube pan.
Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
Cool in pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
Remove from pan & cool completely.
I had to cook mine for longer than 1 hour (approx. 1 hour 20 mins). I would recommend flouring the pan in addition to greasing it. Mine was well greased but I still lost a chunk of the top when flipping it.
